After nearly three years have passed since the unveiling of Windows 11, this operating system has taken a significant share of the market.
According to the latest data published by Statcounter, Windows 11 has reached its peak of popularity in October 2024 with a market share of 35.55%. This achievement indicates an increase of 2.13% compared to the previous month and indicates the significant and continuous growth of this operating system.
At the same time as the market share of Windows 11 increases, Windows 10 also maintains its position as the most popular desktop operating system. However, Windows 10’s market share has been gradually decreasing and has now reached 60.95%. This decrease indicates the gradual transition of users from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
Despite the migration of users to newer operating systems, older versions of Windows still have their fans. Windows 7, despite the announcement of the official end of support, is still present in the market with a share of 2.62%. Also, Windows 8.1 and XP have a small share of the market, with a small share of 0.31% and 0.28%, respectively.
Steam survey data shows that Windows 11 is the most popular operating system among gamers. This means that gamers are more inclined to use the latest version of Windows.
As Windows 10 end of support date approaches (October 14, 2025), users and businesses are looking to migrate to Windows 11.
