With the M4 Pro, the new generation MacBook Pro has increased memory bandwidth by 75% compared to the previous generation. Apple also claims that the new MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip is up to 3 times faster than the models equipped with the M1 Pro.
In contrast, the M4 Max chip is equipped with a CPU with up to 16 cores, a GPU with up to 40 cores, an integrated memory bandwidth of more than half a terabyte per second, and a neural engine more than 3 times faster than the M1 Max. According to Apple’s claim, the MacBook Pro with the M4 Max offers up to 3.5 times the performance of the M1 Max. Also, the M4 Max supports up to 128 GB of integrated memory.
All models are equipped with an improved Liquid Retina XDR display with a new nanotexture option that offers up to 1,000 nits of brightness for SDR content. There’s also a new 12-megapixel central camera that Apple claims offers improved video quality in challenging lighting conditions.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro model with the M4 Pro chip offers up to 22 hours of battery life and the M4 Max model offers up to 18 hours of battery life. For the 16-inch MacBook Pro model, users can get up to 24 hours of battery life by choosing the M4 Pro and up to 21 hours by choosing the M4 Max.
All MacBook Pro models are equipped with an HDMI port with resolution support up to 8K. The M4 Pro model is capable of supporting three 6K displays with a 60Hz refresh rate via Thunderbolt or HDMI, which is an improvement over the previous M3 Pro model. Apple’s M4 Pro chip also supports a 6K display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a second 8K display with a 60Hz refresh rate or 4K resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate.
The M4 Max supports up to three external displays with 6K resolution at 60Hz refresh rate via Thunderbolt and one external display with up to 4K resolution at 144Hz refresh rate via HDMI, or up to two external displays with 6K resolution at 60Hz refresh rate via HDMI. via Thunderbolt and supports an external display with a resolution of up to 8K with a refresh rate of 60Hz or an external display with a resolution of 4K with a refresh rate of 240Hz via HDMI.
The new MacBook Pro models with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips come in gray and silver colors. The pre-sale of these devices started today and will be available from November 8. The price of the 14-inch model starts at $1,599 and the 16-inch model starts at $2,499.
