YouTube is regularly adding new features to prevent teens from being exposed to inappropriate content. The company already has strict rules to protect teenagers, but there are always those who find a way around them.
YouTube recently introduced new features that increase the protection of teenagers. These features were developed in collaboration with the Youth and Families Advisory Committee and will be released in the coming weeks.
YouTube said it now restricts showing videos related to content that compares physical characteristics, idealizes certain aspects of fitness or body weight, or promotes aggression.
YouTube has now made changes to the Take a Break and Bedtime Reminder features to appear better and more for teenagers than before. These changes will be more tangible for users under the age of 18 who have enabled these reminders by default in their accounts.
YouTube has also expanded the Crisis Resource Panels into a new full-screen experience to help users stop and get help when they’re searching YouTube for questions about suicide, self-harm, and the like.
