Google is constantly improving the Play Store to protect users from dangerous apps and malware, and now it plans to scan apps in real-time.
In this feature, Play Protect will check the applications uploaded in the Play Store to identify any malicious code. According to a report, Google scanned more than 50 billion apps per day in 2020 and removed 79,000 dangerous apps from the Play Store in the same year.
However, real-time app scanning is not yet available to all users, but the feature is expected to be available to the public by the end of this month. Polyprotect changes are supposed to be applied after update 37.5.
This is not the first time that Google has updated its security features. In July 2023, the company upgraded the process of approving developers on the Play Store and asked them to submit a nine-digit number for their approving. This code is in addition to the email address and phone number that developers must provide to verify their identity.
Due to the increase in the number of fake applications that want to enter the Play Store in any way, real-time scanning can be an effective measure to prevent their penetration.
