With less than 48 hours left until Apple’s Wonderlust event, a new rumor today claims that Apple plans to stop making silicon accessories.
According to today’s information, apparently this will happen gradually and the existing models will not be produced with new color options.
Apparently, Apple’s goal with this work is to help the sustainability of the environment. Today’s report said that Apple wants to replace silicone accessories with environmentally friendly materials.
Apple already has several accessories made from silicone rubber and fluoroelastomer. These accessories include iPhone cases, Apple Watch bands, Airtags accessories and more.
Since Apple uses rubber and fluoroelastomer in the most popular and cheapest Apple Watch models, the company will try to replace them gradually.
Apple is expected to use a new material called FineWoven for iPhone 15 series cases. It is also rumored that this year’s Apple Watch bands will have a magnetic clasp design and will be made of the same material used in FineWoven cases. Apparently, the price of these bands will be 99 dollars.
Apple’s iPhone 15 event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 12.
