On the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the release of the game “NieR Automata”, the Square Enix game company had organized a special video that examined all the various events that had happened around the game over the years. The new thing that was announced at the end of the video is that the game has sold 10 million copies.
However, the announcement of the sales of 10 million copies of Nir Automata was not Square Enix’s most exciting news for the game. The special video for the anniversary of this game finally ended with the words “Nir Automata will continue…”, which surely announces the creation of a new part in this series of games.
The Nir Automata game was released in early 2017 for PlayStation 4, a year after its release, it came to PC, and a year after that, it was released on Xbox, and finally, two or three years ago, a version of the game was released on Nintendo Switch console. All these different versions of the game have played a role in reaching the sales figure of 10 million copies. The last statistics provided by Square Enix about the game’s sales date back to December 2024, when the game sold 9 million copies.

After the amazing success of Nier Automata, Square Enix even decided to remake and relaunch the previous game of the series, which did not have a very good gameplay, and this game called Nier Replicant has been able to sell more than two million copies so far.
Yoko Taro, the director and writer of the NieR game series, Yusuke Saito, the producer of this series, as well as Takahisa Taura, the gameplay designer of NieR Automata, have been seen together many times over the past few years, and the producer of this series has said in interviews that a series with this level of success will definitely not be abandoned. As a result, we should be sure to make a sequel for Neer Automata.
In honor of the game’s 9th anniversary, and obviously the announcement of Nir Automata selling 10 million copies, Square Enix has released a new artwork, which you can see above. This design shows different versions of NieR Automata, all brought together to form one of the game’s main characters.
We have included the game’s 9th anniversary video below.
