According to Mehr reporter, in order to strengthen the data-driven governance of science and technology and to respond to the increasing need of universities and policymakers for reliable and integrated analyses, the science measurement system of the country’s universities has been designed and launched by the Iran Science and Information Technology Research Institute (Irandac); A system that for the first time provides a comprehensive, coherent and reliable picture of the scientific performance of Iranian universities.
The end of scattered views on scientific performance
For many years, the evaluation of academic performance of universities relied on scattered reports, heterogeneous data and sometimes inconsistent indicators. Each university or institution used to analyze its situation based on limited resources and different methods, and this caused macro-scientific decision-making to be accompanied by uncertainty and sometimes delay. The absence of a national system and reference had created a serious void in the science policy of the country.
