Cursor, an artificial intelligence-based coding startup, has announced the release of a new feature that allows users to design the appearance and user experience of web applications with the help of artificial intelligence.
According to Wired, this new tool is called Visual Editor and is basically a Vibe Coding product for designers. In addition to applying changes manually, this tool allows designers to request edits from the Cursor AI agent using natural language.

Cursor is best known for its AI-based coding platform, but with the release of Visual Editor, this startup plans to enter other parts of the software development process. “Our core audience, professional developers, never changes,” said Cursor Design Director Rio Lu. But in reality, developers don’t work alone; “They collaborate with a lot of people, and anyone building software should be able to get something useful out of Cursor.”

Cursor has one of the fastest growing AI startups. The company announced in 2023 that it will cross the $1 billion annual recurring revenue mark and has tens of thousands of companies including Nvidia, Salesforce and PwC among its clients. Also in November, the startup closed a $2.3 billion funding round, raising its valuation to nearly $30 billion.
Cursor was one of the pioneers of the AI-based coding market at the beginning of its formation, but now more than ever it is facing the pressure of competition from bigger players such as Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. In the past, the startup mainly used these companies’ AI models, but now its competitors have invested heavily in their own proprietary AI-based coding products. For example, Entropic’s Claude Code model grew even faster than Cursor, reaching $1 billion in annual recurring revenue just six months after launch.
