Creative Assembly has unveiled Total War: Medieval 3, the latest installment in its popular strategy series.
This game was introduced at the special ceremony of the 25th anniversary of Creative Assembly; Where Medieval 3 was said to be a return to the historical roots of the series, but also a “bold revolution” at the same time. The release date has not yet been determined and it seems that there is still a long way to go, because Creative Assembly has announced that the project is in the early stages. The studio’s statement read:
Built as the most complete medieval strategy sandbox, this game allows players to shape realms, rewrite history, and immerse themselves in the heart of the medieval era. With a combination of historical authenticity and unprecedented player freedom, this is not just a sequel but a rebirth of the historical Total War.
Creative Assembly introduced the game with a live action teaser and some concept art images. Simultaneously with the introduction of Medival 3, the new Warcore engine was also introduced, which Creative Assembly called an evolution of the exclusive Total War engine. The studio said:
Warcore is the most technologically advanced foundation in the franchise’s history, giving developers a set of tools that make gameplay more immersive, dynamic, and responsive than ever before. The engine is designed to evolve, unlocking new capabilities over time, ensuring that the series remains at the cutting edge of technology in the strategy genre for years to come.
Creative Assembly also confirmed that the presence of the Warcore engine means that future Total War games could be released on the PlayStation and Xbox series for the first time. Creative Assembly also announced that at the Game Awards ceremony on December 11, it will introduce a new game that is “the next big game of Total War” and “is considered one of the most ambitious projects in the history of this series and will be the beginning of a new exciting era.”
