Tik Tok announced that it will support Passkey on iOS devices, so that users can enter the platform in an easier and safer way. Apple integrated passkeys with iOS in iOS 16, and this feature is also available in iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Ventura.
Passkey is an emerging standard developed by FIDO and the World Wide Web Consortium, and now Tik Tok is offering it for Apple devices as well as other devices that support this feature.
Passkeys are easier and more secure than passwords because they allow users to log into apps and sites the same way they unlock their device. These methods can include fingerprint, face scan or screen lock pin.
Apps like Tik Tok that use passkeys will never be able to access the biometric data used in the authentication process on iOS devices, and all data will remain on the users’ devices. Passkeys are also more secure against online hacking attacks such as phishing.
Tik Tok has said that starting this month, passkeys will be available for iOS devices in Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America, and will gradually be available for other geographic regions and other operating systems. Tik Tok users can activate this feature by going to their profile and referring to the settings and privacy section.
