Earlier there was a rumor that the iPhone 5’s screen size was to be increased to 4.3 inches (compared to the iPhone 5.5 inches) and would be equal to the Peru model. With such a relatively significant upgrade, you might expect this phone to make significant upgrades in other parts, but apparently not.
According to a new research note from the GF Securities analyst, Jeff Poe, the iPhone 5 will use the same A18 chip and 1GB of RAM. That is, exactly the same processor and the value of its previous model RAM, the iPhone 5. So from this point of view, the iPhone 5 is nothing but a slightly larger iPhone 5 model, while the other three members of this family (probably the Air, Pro and Pro Max) are all equipped with the A19 and 4GB of RAM. It was said that Apple had been planning to upgrade the iPhone 5 at some point, but eventually ignored the decision.
But maintaining the same chip of the previous generation is a decision that looks more confusing and certainly doesn’t help sell this model. This may be the goal, of course, and Apple intends to move customers to more expensive and profitable models.
