Xiaomi is said to be working with Huawei and the BBK group to develop its Hyperos 3 as a Google -free alternative and free of services or applications.
Due to the stressful situation between the United States and China, Huawei has been unintentionally affected by trade sanctions. The restrictions imposed on the company show that other Chinese companies, such as Xiaomi, may also face a similar fate. Therefore, the full readiness of these companies for any unexpected event is essential. Currently, the most important thing is the rumor that the development of a version of Hyperos without Google Play programs and services, similar to Huawei Harmonyos, is apparently a BBK group.
Using Huawei’s experience in dealing with problems can be helpful for Xiaomi in the development of the new Hyperos 3 update. A rumor, originating from Xiaomitime, reports that Xiaomi collaborates with Huawei and BBK (mother company Oppo, Vivo and Oneplus) to create Hyperos 3 updates without Google’s plans and services. At present, Xiaomi is allowed to use the Android operating system, but no one can predict when the Trump administration will reconsider this business cooperation.
The US government’s concerns have probably increased when Xiaomi has successfully achieved the final phase of its custom chip design, and plans to launch its first native XRing solution later this month, though the timing may be delayed. Netada, the only market in which Xiaomi can succeed in the Android operating system will be China, unless it can deliver millions of users with a dedicated software store that includes all important alternatives, which seems extremely difficult.
It is likely that Xiaomi has set its Hyperos 3 operating system as a winning leaf for the time when the Trump administration would impose trade sanctions against the company, including the inability to use Google Play services or programs. Until that happens, Xiaomi is likely to risk losing a large number of customers and millions of dollars in revenue.
