On the occasion of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir, a piece of the “Curtain of the Kaaba” and a painting titled “The Slaughter of Ismail” were exhibited in Niavaran Palace Museum.
A piece of the “Curtain of the Kaaba” and a painting titled “The Slaughter of Ismail” were exhibited in the Palace of Niavaran Museum on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir.
The painting “Slaughter of Ismail” is a work of “Ismail Jalair” that was created in the 13th century with oil on canvas technique and belongs to the treasure of works of Saheb Qaraniyeh Palace.
This panel with property number 14960 was registered in the list of national monuments of the country on August 11, 2016 with the registration number “558th”.
The Kaaba Curtain, which was gifted to Pahlavi II by King Faisal of Arabia at the time in 1388 AH corresponding to 1347 AH, is another work that has been exhibited. The types of stitching available in this curtain include ribbon embroidery, glabton embroidery, embossed embroidery, wick embroidery, and pattern embroidery, and it has a border with thread flower decorations and lace and trange with heavenly patterns. Also, verse 128 of Surah “Baqarah” has been written and sewn on this curtain with thul script.
The weaving stages of “Kaaba curtain” include dyeing, automatic weaving, laboratory section, printing section, embossing, and curtain collection section. The curtain of the Kaaba is woven from 700 kg of black silk. Also, 120 kg of gold and 25 kg of silver are used in its structure. The height of the curtain of God’s house is 14 meters and its length is 45 meters, which consists of 5 pieces, and each piece covers one side of the Kaaba, and the fifth piece covers the door of the Kaaba. Every year, after washing the Kaaba with pure Iranian rose water, a new curtain is replaced on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah (Day of Arafah) and the previous year’s curtain is presented to the heads of Islamic countries in pieces.
These works are on display from 8 to 16 July 1402, in the dedicated museum palace of Niavaran historical cultural complex located in Shahid Bahonar Square (Niavaran) from 9 am to 5 pm from Eid al-Adha to Ghadir Kham.
