According to the Communication and Information Technology Research Institute; While announcing this news, Dr. Mohammad Shahram Moin, the head of the Artificial Intelligence Development Center of the ICT Research Institute, stated: Considering the importance of the issue of food security and the country’s need for accurate statistics and information on the amount of cultivated area of ​​agricultural crops in the advancement of the country’s major plans, a project titled ” The estimation of the cultivated area of ​​two crops, potato and alfalfa, using remote sensing and artificial intelligence” was implemented in the artificial intelligence development center of the Research Institute of Communication and Information Technology.

He added: In this project, the role of artificial intelligence algorithms along with the use of ground and satellite data is very special and significant. In the mentioned project, two cities of Hamedan and Bahar were selected as study areas for potato production and four provinces of Hamadan, Markazi, Qazvin and Lorestan were selected as study areas for alfalfa production. To separate these two products from other products, several spectral-temporal indices based on remote sensing data were proposed and developed.

In relation to the future plans and cooperation of the Artificial Intelligence Development Center of the ICT Research Institute and the Ministry of Jihad and Agriculture, he stated: In this regard, the estimation of the cultivated area of ​​6 products out of 12 strategic products determined by Jihad Agriculture, which includes rapeseed, potato, alfalfa, tomato, It is onions and beets, in a new project using artificial intelligence and remote sensing with a 3-year vision for the whole country is being planned.
