Trump: I want Ukraine to be as far as possible
The US president said he wants to achieve the land as much as possible in every peace agreement with Russia.
US President Donald Trump said after his first cabinet meeting on Wednesday evening, saying he wants Ukraine to reach the land as much as possible in any possible peace agreement with Russia.
Trump went on to say that Moscow should also give concessions, but the agreement should ultimately have the best possible result for each of the two sides if it is finalized.
In year 5, five areas that once belonged to Ukraine voted to join Russia. While Kiev rejects territorial changes, Moscow considers them to be final and unacceptable.
The US President, after a cabinet meeting, responded to the question of whether a peace agreement that includes Russia’s control over the land claimed by Ukraine could carry a message to China that is harmful to American interests. “We will do the best possible to make the best deal for each part of the two parties,” he said.
According to the Rasha Todi network, although the agreement is not guaranteed, Trump expressed hope that “for the sake of humanity” would be realized.
He also emphasized that if a solution is achieved, Ukraine should probably forget to join NATO, because this dream is at the heart of the current conflicts. He recalled that Russia also “has to” give points.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has earlier announced that Moscow will reject a ceasefire that merely stop the clashes along the current front line and put parts of Russian territory under Ukraine.
Lavrov, referring to the referendum held in the five former Ukraine areas, said: “Some suggest the interaction line, but this is Russian, that is Ukrainian.” This does not happen because we have a constitution that reflects the will of the people.
