The UK and the United States did not sign an international artificial intelligence statement at the Paris World Summit.
According to the BBC report, at the AI Action Summit summit, France, China, India and several other countries signed a statement, pledging to take an open, comprehensive and ethical approach to developing artificial intelligence. But the US and the United Kingdom refused to sign the statement.
The summit focused on the impact of artificial intelligence on the community and the environment, and countries took the necessary steps to get the benefits of this technology and prevent its risks.
US and British refusal to sign artificial intelligence statement
The United States and the United Kingdom have not explained their reasons for signing the statement, but earlier, US Vice President JD Venus said in Paris that excessive regulations on artificial intelligence could “eliminate the transformative industry as it is on the path of growth.”
Venus told other heads of states who came to the Paris summit, saying artificial intelligence is “an opportunity that the Trump administration will not waste it and that the policies of artificial intelligence growth should be prioritized over safety.” He said it requires regulations that reinforce its development rather than suppressing artificial intelligence. Venus added that in particular European leaders, “instead of fear, they should look at this new advanced technology with optimism.”
JD Vance’s remarks appear to be in conflict with French President Emmanuel Macron’s views that defend the need for further regulations. “We need these rules to advance artificial intelligence,” Macron said at the summit.
Policymakers, executives and diplomats at the Paris Summit are discussing ways to gain economic benefits of artificial intelligence and at the same time addressing the technology. Earlier, Emmanuel Macron also pointed to the dangers of artificial intelligence by publishing a set of dip -foster clips on social media.
