According to Axios, this action of Denmark was done with the aim of solving Trump’s security concerns and preventing his claim to this island.

The website added that the Danish government wants to convince Trump that his security concerns can be addressed without claiming ownership of Greenland.

Trump, who will take office on January 20, has described US control of Greenland, a semi-autonomous Danish territory, as a “necessity”.
