Microsoft has recently started to form an internal entity focusing on the field of artificial intelligence, which will be formed from the integration of different parts of the company. The new Microsoft team will be managed by one of Meta’s former engineers and executives.
According to the latest reports, Microsoft plans to form a new internal division called CoreAI – Platform and Tools. The members of Microsoft’s new artificial intelligence team are from the Dev Div and AI platform departments, and some employees of the company’s CTO office will also be present. Their goal is to develop artificial intelligence platforms and tools based on it for Microsoft and its customers.
In an internal memo to his staff, Satya Nadella has hinted that 2025 will see massive changes in applications thanks to advances in artificial intelligence. The CEO of Microsoft believes that in the next 3 years, as many as 30 years, changes will be made that will affect various categories of applications. He has mentioned that first of all, there is a need for an internal department to formulate how to use artificial intelligence and create applications and tools for it, which will now be the task of the new artificial intelligence team of this company.
Microsoft intends to turn the Azure platform into a huge infrastructure for providing services related to artificial intelligence, in order to welcome other customers along with the company’s proprietary platforms and tools. Jay Parikh, who has joined Microsoft since the end of last year, has been entrusted with the responsibility of achieving the aforementioned goals. He spent a decade as a senior engineer and executive at Meta, and will now be a member of Microsoft’s management team, reporting directly to the company’s CEO.
It is worth noting that the director of the new CoreAI department has a long history in the field of projects related to data centers and infrastructure in Meta. He also worked as the CEO of the cloud security startup Lacework before joining the Redmondis.
