Github announced that the Github Copilot artificial ielligence assista has been made available to users for free. Github.com and VS Code users can already use this service.
Uil now, developers active in the GitHub service had to pay at least $10 per moh to access Copilot’s artificial ielligence. This tool was only available to a small number of GitHub users, including studes, teachers, and people who maiain open source projects. But the free version of Copilot is now available to all users, which can be very effective in increasing the speed and quality of coding.

Of course, there are also limitations for the users of the free version, which is more aimed at working on large projects. The free version of Copilot is mostly offered to users who wa to use it occasionally in their small projects.
One of GitHub’s spokespersons says that developers will have access to 2,000 code completions per moh if they use the free version. Of course, developers should note that each Copilot offer reduces one of these numbers even if the user does not use it.
Also, although GitHub has recely made it possible to switch between differe AI models, users of the free version of Copilot are limited to using the Claude 3.5 Sonnet and GPT-4o models. In addition to these models, users of the paid versions also have access to Gemina 1.5 Pro models from Google and o1 and its mini version from OpenAI.
Also, for the Copilot Chat section, the number of messages is limited to 50 messages. This is the only limitation in this section for free users. Developers also have access to all Copilot plugins and skills.
Along with the release of the free version of Copilot, GitHub also announced that it hosts 150 million developers, which shows a significa growth compared to the 100 million developers announced in early 2023.
