Excessive demand for the Mate 70 series has forced suppliers to work overtime.
Huawei has recently unveiled the Mate 70 series flagship phones and has started pre-sale of these phones. The Mate 70 series includes four models Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro Plus and Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design, which has attracted the attention of Chinese users.
Hei Gang, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business department, announced that the Mate 70 series has more than 6.7 million reservations in China so far. Although these reservations are not considered advance sales and do not require payment, they nevertheless show the high popularity of this series. In this regard, analysts believe that the demand for Mate 70 is lower than the Mate 60 series of the last year, however, this amount of demand is also significant.
Huawei’s production and supply chains have been forced to work overtime to meet demand. However, there is a possibility that the initial shipments will not meet this volume of demand. The main problem is probably related to the development of the Kirin 9020 chip in the Mate 70, which offers 30% better performance than the previous generation. Of course, these chips do not reach the level of Western flagship chips.
