The DS brand, known as a subsidiary of PSA (Peugeot-Citroen), has released the first images of the luxury and option-packed SUV DS 8.
In its latest ambition, France‘s DS has iroduced a luxury electric SUV with a coupe-like design. The DS 8 car will be known as the symbol of all-electric products of this brand and can well depict the goals of this French company. In this section of the car news, we will publish the published pictures and details of this DS masterpiece.
Iroducing the DS SUV, admirable and luxurious
If we take a look at the history of the DS brand, we will realize that this luxury company is the result of differe and matured thinking of two companies, Peugeot and Citroen. This new brand was established in 2009 with the aim of producing beautiful, luxurious and versatile products. In fact, the lack of attractive and competitive products with other European luxury cars made PSA think of establishing this brand.
The name of this brand is a combination of the words “Differe Spirit” and “Distinctive Series” and it is somehow adapted from the legendary Citroen DS sedan that was produced from 1955 to 1976.
In the first published images of the DS 8 SUV, we see the T-shaped design of the full LED fro lights, which coinuously includes all the lighting compones of the fro. A narrow black horizoal strip is placed between the lights and the DS logo is also placed in the ceer of the black fro window of the car.
The rear view of the car is also designed to match the fro part and has the same T-shaped eleme as the headlight. In terms of the design language and the slope of the roof in the rear column, it has a lot of similarities between this car and the Citroen C5 X and Peugeot 408 models, but it has a special appearance in the design of the sides with distinct horizoal lines.
In the side view, retractable fro door handles and hidden rear door handles along with aerodynamic rims with an attractive and unique design have given DS 8 a beautiful and special look.
DS8 technical specifications
This electric SUV is designed based on Peugeot-Citroen’s STLA Medium platform. This platform was iroduced for the first time in the third generation Peugeot 3008 crossover, and it is a docume of the evolution of Peugeot products to compete with other promine car manufacturers in this field. There is a long time left uil the official unveiling of the DS 8 SUV, and the release of official and complete information about this car has been postponed to the future.
According to published information, the range of this car will be up to 750 km based on the WLTP standard. Also, the coefficie of air resistance (CX) will be equal to 0.24, which makes this attractive product one of the most aerodynamic electric SUVs in Europe. According to some foreign sources, the new DS product will be one of the smartest and most optional electric cars made in Europe while providing an exemplary appearance.
The official unveiling of DS 8 will be done by the end of this year. Meanwhile, DS recely made headlines with the iroduction of the SM Tribute coupe concept, which is slated to become a production model with a Maserati-built V6 engine.
