The Pentagon’s silence about Ukraine’s alleged authorization to attack Russian territory
A Pentagon spokesman declined to comment on US media reports that Ukraine had authorized the use of US weapons in an attack on Russian soil.
According to RCO News Agency, the Pentagon spokesman said that the US Department of Defense is currently refusing to comment on published reports that the White House has authorized Ukraine’s use of American long-range missiles to strike deep into Russian soil.
The American newspaper New York Times reported on Sunday, quoting anonymous representatives of the US government, that US President Joe Biden for the first time allowed Ukraine to use US-made long-range missiles to attack Russian territory.
In response to the request of the Russian media “Ria Novosti” for a comment about this report, the spokesperson of the Pentagon said: “We have no comment to offer at this time.”
According to New York Times sources, the first deep attacks on Russian soil will probably be carried out with Atcoms missiles. “Figaro” newspaper also claimed that France and Great Britain have allowed Ukraine to use long-range weapons sent from these countries to attack Russian territory.
A few hours ago, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman of the Kremlin, responded to these reports and said that the Biden administration, which is spending its last days, continues to pour gasoline on the fire of the Ukrainian conflict. He also warned that if these reports are true, tensions will enter a new phase.
In mid-October, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced Kiev’s plan to end the war, dubbed the “Victory Plan.” One of Ukraine’s requests in this plan is that Western countries allow Kiev to attack targets deep in Russian territory using long-range weapons received from the West.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that the direct participation of Western countries in this conflict will change its nature and Moscow will be forced to make decisions based on the threats against Russia.
