Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, recently discussed various topics related to his company’s products such as GPT-5 in a Q&A session on Reddit. He generally about Artificial intelligence (AGI) is optimistic that it can be achieved with current hardware.
In an online Q&A session on Reddit, Sam Altman made a strange claim and said that it is possible to achieve comprehensive artificial intelligence with current hardware; While there is still no uniform and comprehensive definition about this advanced technology. Of course, what Sam Altman said is exactly what we’d expect from the CEO of a multi-billion dollar company whose mission is to make AGI a reality.
Sam Altman’s comments on artificial intelligence and AGI
What makes Sam Altman’s statement even more strange is that he said in the same Reddit session that the lack of processing power has delayed the release of new OpenAI products. He says that large language models have become much more complex than before, which has delayed the development of newer versions.
He also confirmed that the next version of ChatGPT will not be released until 2024. According to the CEO of OpenAI, the GPT-5 model will not be unveiled until early next year, instead updating the current ChatGPT models is a priority.
Additionally, Altman stated in another response that OpenAI is “announcing some very good versions later this year”; However, no matter how advanced the models that will be released in 2024 are, they still cannot be considered as great as GPT-5. Of course, this company may not call its upcoming model GPT-5 and come with a completely new title.
Overall, ChatGPT-5 is expected to be a turning point for OpenAI. Just as the transition from GPT-3 to GPT-4 was a big leap, the next model will be just as advanced, and you might feel like you’re talking to a human, not a computer, when you talk to the company’s AI chatbot.
