The long awaited ChatGPT search feature is now enabled. This feature is known as ChatGPT Search and it searches the web for you. Notably, this feature is integrated into ChatGPT and ChatGPT may automatically search for some of the questions you ask. You can also manually select the search option after entering anything in the text box.
OpenAI says the feature “combines the benefits of a natural language user interface with the value of up-to-date information such as sports scores, news, stock prices, and more.” The company has partnered with “news and data providers to add up-to-date information and new visual designs for categories such as weather, stocks, sports, news and maps.”
Chats made with ChatGPT now include links to resources such as news articles and blog posts. However, to view all references, you must click the References button below the answer to open a sidebar with all the references.
OpenAI says it has worked extensively with the news industry and listened carefully to feedback from its global partners. SearchGPT prototype feedback is also included in ChatGPT Search. In the future, the company promises to improve the new service, “especially in areas like shopping and travel.”
ChatGPT Search is now available on chatgpt.com as well as through the ChatGPT desktop and mobile apps for all ChatGPT Plus and Team users, as well as SearchGPT waiting list users. Enterprise and Edu users will get access in the “next few weeks,” while free users will get access in the “coming months.”
