Apple has unveiled the new Mac mini, which is equipped with powerful M4 chips. This device is a direct replacement for last year’s Mac Mini M2.
The new Mac Mini has a very compact design inspired by Mac Studio. The device measures just 12.7cm on each side and is slightly taller than the previous Mac Mini M2 by 5cm, but weighs just 670g for the M4 model and 730g for the M4 Pro version.
On the front, the new Mac mini has two USB-C ports and a headphone jack. On the back, there are three Thunderbolt ports (Thunderbolt 4 in the M4 model and Thunderbolt 5 in the M4 Pro model), an HDMI port, a Gigabit Ethernet port (expandable to 10 gigabit), and a power input. Also, this device supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity.
The new Mac mini is introduced with the M4 chip and can be ordered with the more powerful M4 Pro chip. The M4 Pro chip comes in two configurations: a basic version with 12 central cores and 16 graphics cores, and a more professional version with 14 central cores and 20 graphics cores, which comes with a price increase of $200. The standard M4 chip has 10 central cores and 10 graphics cores.
The new Mac Mini can be customized with up to 64 GB of RAM and up to 8 TB of internal memory for the M4 Pro version. This device comes with macOS Sequoia operating system and supports Apple artificial intelligence.
The base price of the M4 Mac Mini with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage is $599 and is available for pre-order now. There are also 512GB models priced at $799 and 24GB RAM/512GB storage models priced at $999.
The M4 Pro version of the Mac Mini is also available at a base price of $1,399 and has 24 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory. This version will be released on November 8.
