Lisa Sue, CEO AMD, In an event of Artificial intelligence chips This company unveiled new products including Ryzen, EPYC and Instinct. The company’s new chips, which we will introduce below, will compete with Nvidia and Intel chips.
The first introduced chips of the series AMD Ryzen AI PRO 300 are AMD claims the power of these chips has tripled compared to products like the Ryzen PRO 7000 and PRO 8000 series that have a Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Also, more than 100 products equipped with these chips will be released by 2025.
The Ryzen AI PRO 300 series chips have the new AMD Zen 5 architecture and are called the world’s best commercial processor series for Copilot Plus computers.
AMD claims the most powerful member of the family, the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375, which has 12 cores and 24 threads, is up to 40 percent more powerful and up to 14 percent more efficient than the Intel Core Ultra 7 165U chip. Also, 4nm processors give devices longer battery life.
Other notable features of the series include an NPU (neural processing unit) capable of 55 tera operations per second (TOPS), which makes the chips easier to handle many AI tasks, such as simultaneous translation.
Empowering data centers with AMD’s Instinct MI325X artificial intelligence chip
Another new chip series Instinct MI325X AMD claims to define a new standard for the performance of artificial intelligence models in data centers. These accelerator chips are built on AMD CDNA 3 architecture.
AMD expects to start production of these artificial intelligence graphics processors from the fourth quarter of 2024, and from the first quarter of 2025, products equipped with it will enter the market.
The tech giant has compared its chip to Nvidia’s H200 chips and says the Instinct MI325X should be around 40% faster in Mixtral 8x7B language model processing, around 30% faster in Mistral 7B and around 20% faster in Llama 3.1 70B. In AI training, the MI325X provides similar or 10% better performance than the H200 platforms.
Finally, AMD from the fifth generation of processors EPYC Formerly known as Turin, it has unveiled “the world’s best server CPU for enterprise, AI and cloud”.
The processors of this series, called AMD EPYC 9005, are built with the Zen 5 architecture and include a wide range of options (from 8 to 192) in terms of the number of cores. The most powerful member of this family EPYC 9965 It has 192 Zen5 cores and a boost frequency of 3.7 GHz.
