Next year, Uber will make an artificial intelligence assistant based on the GPT-4o model available to its electric car drivers. This assistant is supposed to answer drivers’ questions about electric cars.
According to TechCrunch, the Uber service is increasing the number of electric cars in its fleet. For this reason, the company decided to launch an artificial intelligence assistant to guide drivers who have problems with their cars. This artificial intelligence assistant uses the GPT-4o model of the ChatGPT chatbot and will be officially released in early 2025. Uber made the announcement at its Go-Get event in London.
Uber electric car drivers can ask artificial intelligence questions
According to an Uber spokesperson, this artificial intelligence assistant will initially answer drivers’ questions about the location of charging stations or directions for purchasing an electric car model. Of course, this assistant will be able to answer the questions of other drivers in the future.
Drivers can access the AI assistant from the home page of the Uber Driver app. The chatbot is also constantly updated with new information to provide drivers with the latest news and announcements. Uber has also announced that the AI assistant can provide personalized responses based on factors such as the driver’s needs, the city the driver lives in and available government incentives.
One of Uber’s spokespersons said that in addition to the possibility of sending text questions, drivers can directly talk to this chatbot, and the chatbot also answers the drivers’ questions in an audible way. Of course, it is not yet clear what languages Uber’s AI assistant supports, but the GPT-4o model can currently support more than 50 languages.
Uber also plans to launch a mentorship program for experienced electric car drivers. These drivers can earn cash and non-cash rewards by guiding their colleagues in the field of electric cars.
