GoPro today unveiled its action cam Go Pro Hero 13 Black with the ability to record 8K videos and HyperSmooth.
Fans of technology and various gadgets usually remember the month of September with the new iPhone generation and Go Pro action cams. GoPro, as usual, unveiled its latest flagship action camera, Go Pro Hero 13 Black, at the beginning of September, and also introduced the low-end Go Pro Hero model.
The new Hero model is the smallest 4K GoPro action cam equipped with a screen and will be launched in less than three weeks. This device will also be GoPro’s cheapest action camera ever at just $200. On the other hand, the Go Pro Hero 13 will have twice the price of the Hero model and will be available to enthusiasts at a price of $400. On the other hand, the Creator Edition model will have a price of 600 dollars.
Along with the new generation of Go Pro action cameras, this company has also unveiled several accessories for its new products. Among these devices, we can mention the macro lens accessory with a price of 130 dollars, which solves the zooming limitations of this company’s action cams. On the other hand, Go Pro anamorphic lens kit also takes videos with more creative and attractive proportions with its price of 130 dollars. In addition, other accessories unveiled by GoPro are an ultra-wide lens kit priced at $100 and a four-pack of ND filters priced at $70.
In the following, we will introduce the new generation of attractive Go Pro action cams.
Go Pro Hero 13 Black; The best GoPro action cam to date
This year’s GoPro flagship action camera has more or less the same specifications as before. The sensor used in it has an 8:7 ratio and offers a maximum resolution of 5.3K. On the other hand, the extremely high-quality anti-vibration technology of this device called HyperSmooth, along with its waterproofness up to a depth of 10 meters, make it the best action cam in the world.
GoPro has also installed a $80 magnetic connection system in the Hero 13 Black model for the first time, which enables fast charging. On the other hand, the battery of this device has been redesigned and its capacity has reached 1900 mAh. In this way, a full charge of the GoPro Hero 13 Black battery allows recording 1.5 hours of video with 5.3K resolution and is able to record 2.5 hours of Full HD videos.
The new lens materials of this device can all be automatically identified by the action cam due to the new system of their connection to the device, and their use will be much easier than before. Of course, the lenses of the older Hero 12 Black model are also compatible with the Hero 13 Black model and can be used in it. However, it will not be possible to identify these lenses automatically. On the other hand, the new HB Go Pro lenses will not be compatible with the Hero 13 Black model.
Although the lack of improvement in the resolution of the videos recorded by the Go Pro Hero 13 Black may disappoint many enthusiasts, this device is able to record much better videos in low light and provide a more cinematic output. The GoPro Hero 13 Black is capable of recording 5.3K videos at 120 fps, which can be slowed down up to four times. On the other hand, the 10-bit color depth of the videos recorded by this low action and the support of the HLG HDR system make the colors look very natural and the visual details of the shadows and highlights are better displayed.
GoPro has also incorporated GPS once again into its new generation of flagship action cams. In this way, the new GoPro camera, while monitoring your current location, is able to add stickers to your videos with the aim of displaying speed, height and other movement metrics through the Quik application.
Despite the less impressive improvements of the Go Pro Hero 13 Black compared to the previous generation, this device is generally a much more complete package than before and looks much more attractive.
Low action GoPro Hero; Great performance with much more basic functionality
Despite the fact that Go Pro flagship action cams are gradually becoming popular options among filmmakers and professionals, some beginner users are just looking to record action videos away from any challenges, and simple and convenient operation is their most important priority.
The new “Go Pro Hero” model is the smallest and lightest 4K Go Pro action cam, weighing only 86 grams and with its dimensions of 56.6 x 47.7 x 29.4 mm, it is about 40% smaller than the Hero 13 Black model. This device, which is half the price of the premium Hero 13 Black model, records 4K videos at a rate of 30 frames per second and a maximum time of 100 minutes, and is capable of recording 2.7K videos at a rate of 60 frames per second and 12 megapixel images.
On the other hand, Hero’s low-level action has a wider field of view than the Hero 13 Black model, and with a 165-degree viewing angle, there is no need to use ultra-wide lenses. This device is also waterproof up to a depth of 5 meters and offers a very simple and straightforward operation.
This economical and beginner action camera will, of course, lack the key feature of HyperSmooth image stabilization. Therefore, immediately after recording the videos, you will probably see a lot of shaking of the videos. However, with the help of the Quik application, it is possible to record stabilizations on its image; However, this application has not yet provided a very brilliant performance in eliminating vibration and does not see a very bright future in front of it.
It’s not bad to know that Go Pro has faced heavy competition from other brands like DJI in the action cam market in recent years. This company is going to launch its new generation of flagship action cameras, Osmo Action Pro 5, in the near future. On the other hand, Insta360 Ace Pro is another attractive flagship product that can form a tough competition with the Go Pro Hero 13 Black model.
In addition, Insta360 Go 3S is another valuable product in the low-cost action class that has a modular design and does not have a screen. However, despite the fact that the Hero model is easier to use, it uses a screen and has a much better price.
