According to multiple sources, OpenAI is apparently ready to release the next version of its ChatGPT AI model in the coming months. “Sam Altman”, the CEO of this startup, also recently without mentioning a specific time about GPT-5 has spoken
Citing its sources, Insider claims in a new report that OpenAI plans to release GPT-5 in the middle of this year (probably during the summer). It also appears that some OpenAI enterprise customers have recently received a demo version of this model and related enhancements.
Another source told the publication that OpenAI is still training GPT-5. After the training process is completed, it will be tested internally for safety and then it will enter the “red team” testing phase, a process in which employees and some people outside the company test the tool in various ways before it is approved. To make it available, find its problems.
Of course, OpenAI has not yet specified any time for the release of its new model, and considering that it is not clear when the safety tests of this model will be finished, the release date of GPT-5 could also be delayed.
OpenAI CEO comments on GPT-5 AI release timing
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, recently spoke on the Lex Friedman podcast about the release date of the GPT-5 AI and said that he did not know! In his interview, he said that OpenAI will launch “an amazing model” in 2024, without naming or when.
Elsewhere in the interview, Altman was asked what aspects of GPT-5 he was most excited about, and he replied that he was most excited about ChatGPT getting smarter. He also said that the upgrade from GPT-4 to GPT-5 will be as big as GPT-3 to GPT-4.
If you've been following the news about ChatGPT, you probably know that some reports have claimed that the GPT-5 model's performance will potentially approach AGI, or general artificial intelligence, that can reason as well as a human.
