Time magazine has announced the list of 100 influeial people in the field of artificial ielligence, in which the names of people including “Sam Altman”, the CEO of OpenAI, “Demis Hasabis”, the CEO of DeepMind and Elon Musk appear. In its list, Time has named the world’s 100 most influeial people in the field of artificial ielligence in categories including leaders, investors, shapers and researchers. This list includes the names of various people, including 18-year-old Senha Ravanur, who in 2020 founded the world’s first and largest active group of young people in artificial ielligence called Encode Justice, to 76-year-old Jeffrey Hion.
The presence of an Iranian in Time’s list of 100 influeial people of artificial ielligence
As we said, one of the notable names meioned in the category of artificial ielligence shapers is “Ilam Tabasi”. Time writes about this Iranian researcher:
“Nearly five years ago, the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) began building a program to advance the developme of reliable and accouable artificial ielligence systems. It was Elham Tabasi, electrical engineer and chief of staff of the institute’s information technology laboratory, who moved the conversation about the impact of artificial ielligence from principles to practical policy implemeation.
Tabasi, who was born and raised in Iran, has always dreamed of becoming a scieist. He immigrated to the United States in 1994 for his graduate studies, and five years later began working at NIST on various machine learning and computer vision projects. Earlier in his career, he was the principal architect of Fingerpri Image Quality (NFIQ) at NIST, which is now an iernational standard for measuring fingerpri image quality and is used by the FBI and the Departme of Homeland Security.
