Zombies and monsters, labyrihine corridors, closed doors, conspiracy and betrayal, secret laboratories, multinational companies and the heroes who fight them. These keywords evoke one of the most popular video game series in history: “Reside Evil”, which is known as “Biohazard” in the coury of its birth in Japan.
Reside Evil, the founder of the survival horror genre, turns 30 years old this year, and on the occasion of this 30th anniversary, Capcom has many plans, the main of which is the release of “Reside Evil 9” or “Reside Evil Requiem”.
In this ranking, by examining everything that is importa in a video game, from story, gameplay to environme design, character and sound, we ranked the Reside Evil series from the last to the first to reach Reside Evil 9, and in the future we will write what position this game has achieved among all the titles on this list.
20. Reside Evil 6 (Reside Evil 6)
Publication year: 2012
Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC

The presence of Reside Evil 6 at the bottom of the ranking is not surprising. Although I played it many times in differe eras and enjoyed the action and political story and the character and voice of “Derek Simmons” in the role of the bad guy, I must say that the multitude of main characters from Chris, Leanne and Ida to the so-called legacy characters like Sherry and Jake (voiced by young Troy Baker) and the twisting and turning adveures, falling io the abyss of pure action without any sense of fear and anxiety, the gameplay is a failure. and Unplayable inflicted deadly blows on Reside Evil and even pushed it to the border of farewell, but Reside Evil eveually survived the work blows and 6 conspiracies just like its heroes. Reside Evil 6 is at the bottom of the table, not because it’s a bad game (which it is), but because it failed to live up to the expectations it created. Reside Evil 6 is number 20 in our list, but it is not twey in any way.

The Umbrella Chronicles concludes with a new story set in Russia that reveals how series villain Albert Wesker took over Reside Evil 4’s Umbrella corol room. Reside Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is ieresting just for the memory of playing and experiencing a new model of Reside Evil, but it does not have the spirit of the series. Even though his team is very tough and has a differe experience for the player, but struggling with it makes it difficult to enjoy the game.

Capcom coinued its experimes with the previous consoles and daily streams, and made an online multiplayer Reside Evil called “Reside Evil Outbreak” (Reside Evil Outbreak) for PlayStation 2, the story of which takes place on the night of the outbreak of viruses in Raccoon City. In this game, we corol differe people from stude girl and mechanic man to the police. One of these characters is Alisa Ashcroft, yes you heard it right, “Ashcroft” and this journalist is none other than the mother of “Grace Ashcroft”, the main character of Reside Evil 9, and that’s why we classified this game among the main games of Reside Evil, because with the presence of Alisa’s daughter, the story of this game has become “Canon” in the coinuation of the story of the main characters and the so-called aliens. This game, which is in the style of the classic games of the series, offers an ieresting and scary experience of teamwork. 14. Reside Evil 3 Remake
Release year: 2020
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

Fans are not happy about the modern remake of “Reside Evil 3: Nemesis”, but we must say that this game has many strengths both as a remake and as an independe work, and comparing it to the original Reside Evil 3 is a disservice to this work. The remake of Reside Evil 3 was made with Capcom’s new “RE” basic engine, and it is in this game that we see Jill for the first time with new graphics, and this time, Capcom plaed flowers with her character design. The game has a relatively high speed and puts us in the role of Jill, who has to escape from the zombie-infested Raccoon City and the Umbrella Huer, the same lovely nemesis made with a scarier appearance. Our encouers with the nemesis are done at specific pois, which is also stressful. The remake of Reside Evil 3 has removed some things from the classic game and added places like the power station, hospital, and Umbrella’s lair beyond the original version, and according to the regular Reside Evil games, it has a high replay value.
13. Reside Evil Revelations

Reside Evil: Revelations is another crime game from the Reside Evil series that seeks to reveal the hands behind the scenes. “Revelations” is based on Lovecraftian aesthetics and has a world based on the fear of the unknown under the seas, and instead of zombies, we fight with aquatic monsters. Reside Evil Relations tells the story of the origins of the BSAA and how it rose to power.

Reside Evil Zero is the last game in the series, which has the gameplay and mechanics of the first games of the series with minor changes! For example, the game does not have a chest and is for two players, and in it we take the lead of Rebecca, a member of the famous Stars, and Billy, a rebel soldier. Reside Evil Zero also shows fans the past of Umbrella people such as Albert Wesker and Dr. William Birkin when they were still human (!) and we realize that being a monster is not as ugly and beautiful as it seems, and for example, people were monsters before they were genetically mutated and infected.
11. Reside Evil 4 Remake
Publication year: 2023
Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC

After the remake of Reside Evil 2, we all waited to see the adveures of the lovely Leanne and the charming Ida in the remake of Reside Evil 4. The remake of Reside Evil 4, like other Capcom remakes of this series, turned out very well, but it has differences with the original version. Reside Evil 4 classic replaced fear and survival with anxiety for survival, but this reconstruction with atmosphere and atmosphere creation, which, thanks to the R-E Engine engine, tried to create a differe atmosphere from the original version, and in certain places, anxiety prevails and in other places creates a scary environme, and it has succeeded in this and created a new experience of fear and survival. In this new Reside Evil 4, we also see the first time the reconstructed Wesker, and although his voice and appearance are somewhat differe, he promises a new and attractive Wesker, especially for the future remakes of “Code: Veronica”, “Zero” and “Five”.

Publication year: 2009
Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC

Unlike other Reside Evil games that start in the darkness of the night and end with the sunrise as a sign of victory over the darkness, Reside Evil 5 brings fear and anxiety to the players in the sunlight. The hero of this game, which takes place in the Black Coine and deals with the colonial roots of Umbrella and other European and American companies, is none other than the great “Chris Redfield” who, together with the African age of the BSAA organization “Shua Alomar”, is supposed to destroy the days of Albert Wesker, oligarchs, mad scieists, and bioterrorists. Code Veronica, which is one of the treasures of Reside Evil classics, tells the story of “Claire” on an island belonging to one of the founding families of Umbrella, who also have the illusion of militarism. Claire is looking for her brother Chris Redfield, and along the way she has to fight both Umbrella and her aristocratic masters and Albert Wesker. The gameplay of the game is in the style of the early games of the series and for the first time takes place in the castle, prison and military environmes.
8. Reside Evil 2 Remake
Release year: 2019
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

The king of Reside Evil remakes. We owe the poi where we stand to experience Reside Evil 9 to the success of the remake of Reside Evil 2 and Reside Evil 7 itself, which saved Capcom after the disaster of Reside Evil 6. In this remake, we take the lead of the two main characters of Reside Evil, Leanne S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, who both eer the worst place at the worst time. Two simple young people, one a rookie police officer and the other one following his brother, have come to Raccoon City and their arrival coincides with the spread of viruses and the rampage of Umbrella monsters in the city, so they take refuge in the city police departme to survive. The gameplay of the game has moved away from the classic style of the game and coinues to follow the path of Reside Evil 4 in scary and dark corridors. This game, like its classic version, is actually two games, one with Claire and one with Lian, which have small and large differences and each tells its own story. In this game, not only people and zombie dogs are thirsty for your blood, a man in a raincoat is always following you and the sound of his footsteps will rob you of peace.
7. Reside Evil 7: Biohazard
Publication year: 2017

“Reside Evil 7: Biohazard” shows the influence of Hideo Kojima like everywhere else in the video game industry; Yes, you read that right, Hideo Kojima. Now, if you’re wondering where Kojima and Reside Evil are, you should experience the masterful, ultra-scary, and mumbling PT demo that Kojima made for his unmade game Sile Hills, to see what would have happened to the beloved Reside Evil if it weren’t for Hideo Kojima and a game like Outlast. Reside Evil 7 changes the camera from the third person to the first person and puts the name of Biohazard, as the series is called in Japan. The game in a scary house where a family scarier than the house lives has returned to its roots to give a new life to the Reside Evil series, which was an animated dead like its own zombies, and the beginning of Capcom’s wonderful games with their exclusive game engine, RA Engine, which even got its name from this series. In this game, unlike the trained heroes of the previous games, we are in the role of an ordinary man named Ethan Wiers, who has reached a house on the swamps of the Midwestern states of America in search of his missing fiancee Mia, whose inhabitas, the Baker family, are each looking for us in some way. A place that reminds us of American Southern Gothic stories and maybe near the infamous Raccoon City.
6. Reside Evil 8: Village (Reside Evil Village)
Publication year: 2021
Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC

Reside Evil Village is a direct sequel to Reside Evil 7, which ends the tragedy of Ethan Wiers. The game is still first-person, which was added with an update to an incomplete third-person mode. At the beginning of the game, Chris Redfield arrives at the Wiers’ home, coldly shoots Mia, and takes Ethan and their baby daughter, Rose, with him. On the way, their caravan is attacked and Ethan must find his daughter in a remote village in the middle of the mouains. The village is ruled by four lords, each symbolizing a part of Europe and its culture. Ethan must pass through the werewolves, the Draculaturous castle of “Lady Dmitrescu” (the Iernet’s favorite lady), the haued house of “Benvio” to the Heisenberg machine factory to uncover the secret of this village, which also has a sign of Umbrella. If Reside Evil 7 is a tribute to the first part of the series, this game is actually a tribute to Reside Evil 4, which mixes the science-fiction atmosphere with folklore stories and creates a concoction of faasies.
5. Reside Evil 4 (Reside Evil 4)
Publication year: 2005
Platforms: Niendo GameCube

The whole genre of action shooting owes to Reside Evil 4 and Shinji Mikami. The gameplay mechanism that has become the standard of shooter games for decades has been incorporated io this game; We mean the same model of shooting from the shoulder and placing the character on the side of the image instead of in the middle. For the first time, Reside Evil 4 did a new trick in Reside Evil, and that was to replace the feeling of fear with anxiety and helplessness. The main character of this game, which is Lian, is no longer looking for the keys to the rooms in the empty corridors to face zombies and a monster, but is attacked by a mass of villagers who have been se there to save the daughter of the American preside. After all these years, the game still eertains you in the best way without any manipulation and it still hasn’t gotten old. Reside Evil 4 was the last time Shinji Mikami himself worked on this series.
4. Reside Evil 3 (Reside Evil 3: Nemesis)
Publication year: 1999

After the adveures of the Spencer mansion, Jill Valeine must now escape the zombie-infested Raccoon City. “Reside Evil 3: Nemesis” (Reside Evil 3: Nemesis) became a classic upon its release, and even now this PlayStation One game is worth experiencing with beautiful pre-rendered environmes and engaging gameplay. It was Reside Evil 3 that iroduced the concept of Stalker with its famous monster Nemesis. The monster you kick out of the door comes in through the window (literally!) and doesn’t leave us uil the end of the game. The environme of this game is the most extensive among the raccoon city trilogy, and apart from the city police departme (RPD), it covers other places such as parks, hospitals, alleys and streets to fully display the destruction of a city by human greed. Shinji Mikami was the producer of this game and directed by Kazuhira Ayuma.
3. Reside Evil 2 (Reside Evil 2)
Publication year: 1998
Platforms: PlayStation

The masterpiece of “Hideki Kamiya” caveman Shinji Mikami, the original creator of Reside Evil, which is probably the most famous and popular game of this series, and the part whose restoration caused a stir among fans and players. Kamiya has really gone all out in making “Reside Evil 2”. The game was released on two discs, which was a heavy volume for that time. One disk for Leanne S. Kennedy, a young rookie officer of the Raccoon City Police Departme, and another disk for Claire Redfield, who came to Raccoon City after her brother Chris’s adveures at the Spencer mansion. Kamiya locks the player in the police station and puts all kinds of traps and puzzles in fro of him to find a way to escape. In this Reside Evil 2, for the first time, the Lakers showed the famous monsters of this series their claws and teeth to the player. This game also has its own stalker, who is now known as Mr. X, but is actually an umbrella monster in the Tyra model. The game still eertains you with the same quality as PlayStation One and has the ability to compete with today’s games.
2. Reside Evil 1 (Reside Evil)
Publication year: 1996
Platforms: PlayStation

It all started here; The nightmare that the legendary Shinji Mikami, the Shogun of Fear and Survival, occupied generations and started a style and series that, if not the most popular, is definitely among the five most popular series in video game history. Cops who are trapped in a cursed mansion full of walking dead, which has corridors more scary and confusing than a labyrih, where you have to open many doors to find a key, and it is not known what nightmare awaits us behind each one. Pre-rendered backgrounds with static frames and characters that became the pillars of this series and some of the most popular video games. Jill Valeine, Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker, the last Jedi who is a strange creature, we lived with them during these thirty years and now we are even in their middle age days. “Reside Evil” (Reside Evil) is the standard of the survival horror genre, and the subseque games all boasted a large environme, but they made their game based on the map of Spencer’s mansion.
1. Reside Evil 1 Remake (Reside Evil HD)
Publication year: 2002
Platforms: Niendo GameCube

The reconstruction of the first part of the series was done by the founder of the style and the creator of the series, Shinji Mikami, who offers the best experience of the classic gameplay of Reside Evil. The remake of Reside Evil 1 is differe from the later remakes like 2 and 3 which were made with a differe and modern gameplay and is very faithful to the original gameplay and only takes the graphics to the top, which is still fresh with its pre-rendered backgrounds and scary frames and the updates it has received. The atmosphere of the game has no words and with a small number of zombies that keep coming back, it creates a relaxing atmosphere in Spencer’s mansion and even scares the player with lightning.
Reside Evil 1 remake is the pinnacle of the Reside Evil game experience that you will never forget and nothing will replace it, even Reside Evil 9, which seems to have all the good things of the eire series in one place.
Let’s enjoy these games uil we get to Reside Evil Requiem.
To enjoy the story of Reside Evil 9, we suggest that you play at least the remake of Reside Evil 2, the remake of 4, and unfortunately 6 itself, because it is as if Reside Evil 9 is a direct coinuation of the sixth part of the series instead of 8, to see where Reside Evil 9 fits in this list.
