Bad Robot Games studio has recely released a gameplay trailer for the co-op game 4: LOOP. This trailer showed an overview of the game’s roguelike structure, as well as a battle with a mysterious boss.
Game 4:Loop was first iroduced at Game Awards 2025. In that eve, Mike Booth (Mike Booth) and J.J. JJ Abrams came on stage to announce the game and its developme process. Abrams is a renowned filmmaker best known for directing Star Trek (2009) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker. Booth, on the other hand, is known as the lead designer and co-creator of Left 4 Dead, and is now the chief creative officer at Bad Robot Games, the game developme division of Abrams’ Bad Robot Company.
The new trailer for this game in the rece State of Play and its accompanying post on the PlayStation Blog by Mike Booth explain its basic gameplay cycle. This cycle begins with forming a team and choosing a mission from the Probability Map; The map is like a screen of ierconnected icons, each represeing a specific type of mission with differe rewards and risks. This mechanism is also seen in roguelikes like Slay the Spire and Inscryption and encourages players to carefully plan their path to get the most resources and upgrades before the boss.
After selecting the mission, the team is immediately transported to the location and must complete certain objectives. According to Booth, these goals can include hacking alien technology, gathering vital resources or rescuing survivors that give the team powerful upgrades. In all missions, waves of alien robots are se to destroy the players. If a player is killed, they will respawn and return to battle with a new broken bone that can only be healed at a Rest Stop. If all team members fall to the ground, that round is over; But it is enough for one of the members to complete the mission so that the round coinues for everyone.
By completing the mission, players return to the main base (Homebase); Where they can buy new equipme and weapons, upgrade their loadout and pick up new items. They may also encouer a shop during a round of the game that offers similar rewards in exchange for the game’s currency, Cache. After a few missions, players eer a boss battle. According to Booth, there are currely three unique bosses in the game, each requiring their own tactics. The only boss shown in the trailer was a gia Rubik’s Cube-like enemy whose weak pois moved erratically.
At the end, Mike Booth said about 4:Loop’s post-launch plans:
When you buy the game, we’ll update it based on what players like. Our goal is for you to have fun, invite your friends and build a dynamic community together.
