The ending of the Stranger Things series, despite the high excitement, left many unanswered questions for the fans. From the ambiguous fate of Elon to the sudden disappearance of the army; Read the 5 big mysteries of the last episode here.
The hit Netflix series has finally reached its final stop, but it seems the Duffer brothers couldn’t unravel all the intricate plot knots they’ve built over the course of five seasons.
Despite the epic sequences, the end of Stranger Things left fans with a list of unanswered questions that even the 40-minute epilogue couldn’t justify. In the following, we examine 5 of the biggest plot holes in the last episode.
1. Where did the monsters of the upside-down world go?
Over the course of 5 seasons, demogorgons, demodogs, and demobats were the main nightmares of Hawkins residents. They came from the “Abyss” or the dark dimension under the command of Mind Flyer and were always an obstacle to the heroes.
But surprisingly, there was no trace of them in the final battle. The heroes of the story passed through the portals without any disturbance and climbed the radio tower, as if all the monsters had gone on vacation! Why was there no news about the army in the most sensitive moment of the series?
2. What happened to Doctor Who and the army?
Linda Hamilton, the legendary Terminator actress, played the role of the evil Dr. K in season 5 of the series; The leader of the army that wanted to continue Dr. Brenner’s experiments. But his role in the story was very small, and after the scene of Elon’s sacrifice, he and his army suddenly went up in smoke.
In the 18-month time jump at the end of the series, there is no mention of his fate or the prosecution of the children by the military. Did they really abandon the rest of the kids after Elon died?
3. What happened to the fate of Vicky and Murray?
One of the strangest parts of the ending was the complete removal of Murray Bauman and Vicky Dunn from the story’s epilogue. Murray played a vital role in the final battle, and if he hadn’t blown up the army helicopter, Jim Hopper and the others would have been killed.
Vicky, as Robin’s girlfriend, had just faced the reality of the upside-down world. However, in the final scenes where the group is reunited, there is no news of these two characters and the series does not explain their fate.
4. Why was Will not harmed by the death of Wakana?
Season 5 revealed that Will Byers has psychic powers and is connected to the Hive Mind. We have seen many times that he feels pain and anger.
In the final battle, when his friends destroy the mind flyer and his mother is killed by an ax, Will was expected to wince or at least react. But he was fine throughout the fight and was not harmed by this mental connection; A topic that contradicts the logic of the previous chapters.
5. Is Elon really dead?
The biggest controversy in the review of Stranger Things series is related to Elon’s fate. The series tried to provide a double ending: Elon apparently died in the collapse of the upside-down world, but Mike believes he survived. Mike’s theory is that Callie (Elon’s missing sister) showed the military a picture of Elon’s death to trick them.
But this theory has a major flaw: the military at the time was using frequency weapons that neutralize supernatural powers. So, if Elon couldn’t use his powers, how did he escape? This ambiguous ending has angered many fans.
