The plan to import used cars will be implemeed soon, but what are the conditions for importing used cars and who can import used cars?
The used car import bill has been reviewed in the meetings of the Guardian Council and will soon become a law with final approval. Also, the head of the National Standard Organization announced that millions of cars could eer Iran in the near future. Therefore, it seems that all the steps of importing second-hand cars have been completed and soon we will see these cars eering Iran, but who can import second-hand cars io the coury?
Conditions for importing used cars
While Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Parliame, recely announced that any real person can import a used car without a car registration card, but the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade has a differe opinion.
The deputy official of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade regarding the conditions for importing second-hand cars said that the import of cars, including new and used, should be done according to the regulations approved by the governme and according to the releva rules and regulations, including by real and legal importers who have a valid business card, observing the ceiling set in the regulations and observing the foreign currency resources of the coury, with the priority of using foreign currency for basic and esseial goods.
These statemes show that real persons who wa to import cars must first have a valid business card and secondly specify the source of currency for import. Of course, Iran’s foreign trade environme has recely undergone changes with various regulations and instructions, and the import conditions may change again. Also, with a new regulation, it is possible to make the condition of import for export so that car manufacturers become used car importers.
In addition, Lotfollah Siahkoli, a member of the Industries Commission, has also preseed a new proposal for the import of used cars, according to which, if a person has currency abroad or at home, he can carry out the import process. This member of parliame said that Iranian people have more than 60 billion dollars in their homes and they can import cars to the coury with this currency.
Mustafa Taheri, a member of the Parliame’s Industries and Mines Commission, announced some time ago that by importing used cars in a short time and with less currency, a proper balance can be created in car prices, especially foreign cars. He added that the price of these cars is irrationally about 4 to 5 Baht compared to the price of similar cars in neighboring couries.
