In a report, Reuters claims that Nvidia plans to start shipping H200 AI chips to Chinese customers in mid-February 2026.
According to this Reuters report, Nvidia has told its Chinese customers that it plans to start shipping its powerful artificial ielligence chips to China before the Chinese New Year holiday in mid-February. The US company plans to source the initial orders from curre inveory, and total shipmes are expected to be between 5,000 and 10,000 chip modules, which equates to around 40,000 to 80,000 H200 AI chips.
Nvidia will resume the supply of artificial ielligence chips in the Chinese market
Nvidia has told Chinese customers that it was to build new production capacity for these chips, and orders for that capacity will be received in the second quarter of 2026. Sources have said there is still considerable uncertaiy, as Beijing has yet to confirm any orders for the H200 chips and the delivery schedule could change depending on governme decisions.
“We coinuously manage our supply chain,” Nvidia told Reuters in a stateme. “Sales of the H200 to authorized customers in China will have no impact on our ability to supply customers in the United States.”
The resupply of AI chips to China will be the first delivery of H200 chips to China since US Preside Donald Trump said Washington would allow the deal only if it received a 25 perce commission. Reuters reported last week that the Trump administration has begun the process of reviewing applications for licenses to sell H200 chips to China. This could be a sign of Washington’s willingness to issue a license to sell chips to China.
The Chinese governme had previously put Nvidia under the microscope for reasons such as the possibility of using a kill switch in chips and violating ai-monopoly laws, and had advised companies in the coury to refrain from buying chips from this company.
