Many ieresting details came up during CD Projekt Red’s Q3 financial report session. One of the highlights of the meeting was related to Witcher 4; The game will not be released in 2026, and also the time frame for the release of three new games of the Witcher series was determined.
It seems like a lifetime has passed since The Witcher 3 was released. That legendary role-playing game is regarded as one of the best in history, and after the developme of Cyberpunk 2077, its release stream, and the massive effort to improve the game post-launch, we’re all looking forward to The Witcher 4 and its coinuation. During the quarterly financial meeting, Michał Nowakowski, co-CEO of CD Projekt Red, answered a question regarding the developme process of The Witcher 4 and the impact of technical or design risks on its release time.
We haven’t announced a specific release date, so there isn’t one that I can poi to in an answer. All we’re talking about is that the game isn’t coming out in 2026. Usually, we do not go io details about the exact technical or design issues. In general, there is nothing unusual about The Witcher 4; Full scale production is proceeding according to our iernal plans. I think we can explain that much.

This was not so unexpected and it is natural that CD Projekt Red does not wa to repeat the mistakes of Cyberpunk 2077. But on the other hand, it was surprising that the triple release schedule still stands:
I believe that the next games should be released in a shorter period of time. As we said before, our plan is to release the eire trilogy over six years. Therefore, the developme time between Witcher 4 and Witcher 5 and also between Witcher 5 and Witcher 6 will be shorter.
As for the subseque games in the trilogy, if they are of the high quality and standard CD Projekt Red has always been, the release of three complete Witcher games in six years will be a special eve.
