Denmark is on the verge of receiving a new generation of a combat vehicle model; The equipment that is supposed to significantly increase the operational capacity of the forces of this country. Several tens of CV90MkIIIC infantry fighting vehicles will soon be delivered to the Danish army.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Defense of Denmark, the procurement and logistics organization of this ministry (DALO) has awarded a contract to BAE Systems, based on which 44 more CV90MkIIIC combat vehicles will be delivered to the country.
The value of this contract, which includes spare parts, support, logistics and training, is about 450 million dollars.
Improved performance on the battlefield
These vehicles are ready to support future technologies by combining greater speed on the battlefield, better handling and improved electronic architecture.
General “Peter Boysen”, the commander of the Danish army, announced in a statement: “The infantry fighting vehicle is a vital part of the combat power in heavy divisions. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare a unified fleet of these cars as soon as possible.”
“With the recent decision to replace 44 current vehicles with new models, the army will have a total of 159 advanced combat vehicles by the end of 2030,” he added.
Proven experience on the battlefield
The CV9035MkIIIC model is built on the same standard as the mid-life upgrade plan of the CV90 in the Dutch Army. These cars will be equipped with the new CV90 turret, which is an important leap in design and performance. The system is built on years of operational experience, continuous upgrades and data obtained from current CV90 users and enables operational cooperation between countries.
According to the manufacturer, CV90 combat vehicles in the weight category of 20 to 38 tons are among the most powerful combat equipment in the world and have the ability to integrate a wide range of weapon systems; A capability that strengthens the ground forces of different countries against any type of threat.
So far, CV90 has been ordered in 17 different variants and a total of 1,900 units have been ordered and has worked more than eight million kilometers. This vehicle has been chosen by 10 European countries, including eight NATO members, and has been used in Afghanistan, Ukraine, as well as peacekeeping operations in Liberia.
Agility and mobility in your classroom
Tommy Gustafsson Rask, CEO of BAE Systems’ Hägglunds division, said: “This order demonstrates the confidence the Danish Armed Forces have in the CV90’s capabilities and our commitment to providing high-quality solutions to meet their evolving needs.”
He continued: “The CV9035MkIIIC model puts Denmark at the forefront of modern defense; With new technology and the ability to fully cooperate with the allied forces.”
The MkIV version of this car is the next step in the evolution of the CV90 concept. Building on a legacy of more than two decades of unmatched mobility and survivability, this model now comes with new technological capabilities and high flexibility for today’s complex battlefield.
Using a new engine, this version produces up to 1,000 horsepower and uses the latest version of the heavy-duty X300 gearbox. The permissible weight capacity of the car has increased from 35 tons to 38 tons, which provides the possibility of three tons of additional load without reducing agility. According to BAE Systems, the CV90 will be the first Western combat vehicle to be equipped with an approved Active Protection System.
