The expansion of the world of “Death Stranding” coinues beyond movies and novels, and this time, the game company Kojima Productions has announced the creation of an animated series. The animated series Death Stranding with the temporary name “Death Stranding: Isolation” (Death Stranding Isolations) has been unveiled and is scheduled to be broadcast exclusively on the Disney Plus streaming service in 2027.
This series is produced by the animation studio E&H Productions and directed by Takayuki Sano. Sano previously worked as an animator and animation director on the Jujutsu Kaisen series and the final season of Attack on Titan.
The animation character design is done by “Ilya Kushinov”. Kushinov designed the character of the animated series Ghost in the Shell SAC 2045 and also the movie Wonderland. We can see Kushinov’s special style in the first and only poster released from the Death Stranding Isolations collection.
The published poster of Death Stranding Isolations, while having the special style of Kushinov, is even a little reminisce of the style of the characters designed by the art director of Kojima Productions, Yuji Shinkawa. The poster also has a bit of an eighties anime vibe to it, but still, we’re not sure how the final product will execute this style; Certainly, nothing other than this poster has been made for the animated series.
Apart from the director and character designer, it has also been said that Hideo Kojima will also be prese as a producer on the project.
The description of the series reads:
“The lonely souls of the dead appear in the physical world and reach out to the living. However, the connection they create creates a huge explosion that destroys everything in this world; A phenomenon called death stranding. These eves destroy nations and civilizations. Those who remain in this world have all gone io isolation, isolated and have no connection with each other. As the world is on the brink of destruction, a legendary package carrier in this world carries packages as well as people’s wishes, and in the meaime, connects people to each other, with the hope that there might be a way out for them.
As Sam Bridges travels to save America, other characters struggle with their isolation in a differe way. The old man was to make his redemption possible outside of the Bridges Corporation and their connections. A warrior woman was to establish a new world with war. A boy from another side has a big grudge against Bridges. A girl who doesn’t wa to lose her loneliness.
At the end of mankind and the world, their fates and hopes are tied together and another story begins in Death Stranding.
To unveil this series, Hideo Kojima personally we to a ceremony organized by Disney Plus in Hong Kong and iroduced it together with the director of the series.
