Iel has confirmed that Sachin Kathi, the company’s chief technology and artificial ielligence officer, has joined OpenAI. At OpenAI, Kathy will work on the developme of the startup’s computing infrastructure.
According to Bloomberg, Iel said that Lipp-Boten, the company’s CEO, will also take over the manageme of the technology and artificial ielligence departme. It is not yet clear who is going to replace Sachin Kathi at Iel.

“Artificial ielligence remains one of Iel’s highest strategic priorities, and we are focused on executing on our technology and product roadmap for emerging AI workloads,” Iel said in a stateme.


Greg Brockman, co-founder and preside of OpenAI, announced that Sachin Cathy is joining the startup to help them design and build their computing infrastructure. Earlier this year, Cathy was appoied director of AI operations at Iel. The chip maker has struggled in rece years to come up with products that can compete with Nvidia, the undisputed leader of the AI chip market.
OpenAI has also become one of the largest buyers of new generation computing hardware through a series of multi-billion dollar coracts and is also planning to develop its own chips. It is said that OpenAI will unveil its first proprietary artificial ielligence chip in 2026. The chip will be developed in collaboration with Broadcom and will help OpenAI reduce its dependence on Nvidia and AMD.
The CEO of Iel previously admitted that the company no longer has a place in the list of the top chip makers in the world and is left out of the artificial ielligence competition. Iel executives have admitted that the company cannot compete with gias like Nvidia in the field of artificial ielligence and should probably focus on areas such as computer processors.
