It seems that Amazon does not wa the Perplexity artificial ielligence browser to offer the possibility of direct purchase from this marketplace. For this reason, this artificial ielligence startup has threatened a lawsuit.
According to The Verge, Amazon said in a blog post that it repeatedly asked Perplexity not to allow its artificial ielligence browser, Comet, to make purchases for users. In response, Perplexity has accused Amazon of bullying.
Perplexity Comet browser should not buy from Amazon for users
The artificial ielligence browser of the Perplexity startup called Comet, which was recely launched, has an age-orieed feature and can make purchases on sites like Amazon instead of users. But now Perplexity says it has received a threatening letter from Amazon demanding that the feature be stopped. Perplexity considers this action against Amazon’s claimed values.

“Amazon must love this,” startup Perplexity said in a blog post. Easier shopping means more transactions and more satisfied customers. But they don’t care. “Amazon is more ierested in showing you ads, sponsoring results, and influencing your purchase decision with additional and confusing offers.”
“It’s like walking io a store and only being able to hire someone from the store to make your purchase,” Perplexity spokesperson Jesse Dwyer said in a stateme. He will not be your personal buyer, but a sales associate.”
Amazon also announced in a stateme that third-party programs that make purchases from this marketplace on behalf of customers must respect the service provider’s decision to participate or not. Amazon claims that Comet’s artificial ielligence browser provides users with a poor shopping and service experience.
Perplexity claims that Amazon blocks the company’s shopping bot because it was to sell ads and push users to make more expensive purchases; Because unlike human shoppers, a robot tasked with ordering only a specific laundry basket is unlikely to be tempted to buy a more expensive model.
