OpenAI brings new functionality to the application Sora It added that it allows users to generate avatars for videos that are to be generated by artificial intelligence. These avatars can be reused in subsequent videos.
The new feature, called Character Cameo, is one of several features that came with the second version of the tool, Sora 2. Other features of this version include the ability to link multiple video clips together and a ranking table that shows the most popular videos and avatars.
Creating a reusable avatar in Sora
The ability to create an avatar is based on the same feature that currently allows Sora users to create “deepfake” videos of their own faces. Also, if you give permission, others can use your avatars.
OpenAI says in Sora’s new notes:
“Once created, each character will have its own permissions. You can keep it just for yourself, share it with followers, or make it accessible to all Sora users. “Give your character a screen name and ID, and tag them whenever you want them to appear in a video.”
OpenAI says that these avatars can be created with the “main persona” that the user creates in Sora, but it is not clear whether the same can be done from people generated by other AI tools.
To encourage users to take advantage of these features, OpenAI has temporarily removed the invite process, announcing that those in the US, Canada, Japan, and Korea can sign up for Sora without an invite code for a “limited time.”
