Popular messenger WhatsApp is preparing to impleme a new and importa restriction designed to reduce the volume of unwaed messages and spam. According to new reports, the company plans to impose a mohly cap on the number of messages users send to unknown people (outside of their coact list). This restriction specifically targets messages that do not receive a response from the recipie, thus directly restricting spam and bulk messaging activities.
This action of WhatsApp is in response to the evolution of this platform from a purely personal messenger to a space for the activity of groups, associations and differe businesses. Although this wide range of users has created new opportunities, it has led to a significa increase in received messages and their manageme has become difficult for users. The new restriction is designed to apply to both regular users and business accous, but the main impact will be on businesses that use the platform for mass marketing and spam.
The mechanism of this system is such that if the receiver of the message responds to it, that conversation is excluded from the scope of the restriction and is considered as a legitimate communication. WhatsApp has not yet announced an exact number for this mohly cap and is testing differe amous to find a suitable balance. However, the company has emphasized that normal users will rarely approach this limit and that this policy will not ierfere with their daily communications. To inform users, when the number of messages se by them approaches the limit, warning messages will be displayed as pop-ups. This feature, which will be implemeed on a trial basis in a few selected couries in the coming weeks, is an importa step towards improving the user experience and cleaning this platform from spam coe. This policy will especially affect business WhatsApp activities that require sending an initial message to customers.
