Meta has officially confirmed that it will soon be using its Chat Chat content with its Meta AI chats to publish targeted ads.
According to the company’s announcement, the content of users’ interactions with its productive artificial intelligence capabilities will be used to customize content and propose advertising across the platforms. These chats include audio and text conversations with Meta AI.
Meta has announced that these conversations will be used to improve the suggestions that the company offers to users so that users can see content that is more interested in and showing less irrelevant content.
Meta explains that if you talk to Meta AI about hiking in nature, you may then get suggestions on hiking groups, friends’ posts on routes or advertising about hiking shoes. These are also applied to Facebook and Instagram, and it should not be forgotten that WhatsApp’s artificial intelligence capabilities are also supported by the Meta AI.
This new change will be notified to users from October 1. It is also not possible to withdraw this process, but you can adjust the content you see and the ads you receive according to the current methods.
When you talk to Meta AI on topics such as religious perspectives, sexual orientation, political beliefs, health, race or ethnicity, philosophical beliefs or membership in trade unions, these conversations will not be used to display propaganda.
Meta has announced that more than one billion people use Meta AI a month, so this change in privacy policy will affect almost one out of every eight people in the world.
The CEO of Instagram also recently responded to some rumors that the service did not use the microphone of users to listen to conversations and display ads, and instead, Meta uses a targeted artificial intelligence system to do so.
