Microsoft and Openai have said in a joint statement that they have signed a non -binding agreement for their next phase. The new agreement between the two companies is still being finalized and no further details have been released.
But according to a report released by the New York Times, the agreement involves how to share technologies and its income between the parties. It is also said that this new agreement will change the paragraph of the initial contract. It was said in the clause that Microsoft could not access the most powerful Openai technologies, provided that the Openai board decides that the technology has reached the level of artificial intelligence (AGI).
Microsoft and Openai continue to work with each other
The New York Times also says that Openai is transferring at least $ 5 billion to its nonprofit branch, which still has control over the organization. The change in the company agreement will pave the way for the converting Openai into a public interest company. This type of company is a company aimed at creating a positive effect on the structural community and also enables future stocks (IPOs).
Openai was initially forced to reach an acceptable agreement with Microsoft, including the amount of stocks received in the company’s profitable branch. Microsoft has invested more than $ 5 billion in Openai so far and has the right to receive 5 % of the company’s future profits.
Previously, reports of Openai’s willingness to distance from its complex non -profit structure had been released. Earlier in the year, the company officially announced its plan to become a public interest company with ordinary shares. Openai at the time said the company would help the company attract new capital to develop activities.
Openai, of course, later announced that the company was established as a nonprofit organization and is still monitored and controlled today by the same non -profit.
