According to the latest reports, Openai plans to introduce its first artificial intelligence chip in the past year in collaboration with Broadcom.
The Financial Times quoted some sources as saying that Openai will use its dedicated artificial intelligence chip for its internal purposes and datacenters and will not initially provide it to foreign customers. Openai and Broadcom have not yet responded.
OpenAI’s proprietary artificial intelligence chip will be introduced next year
OpenAI requires significant processing power to support productive artificial intelligence activities and training and implementing its systems and rely on artificial intelligence chips to provide this power. The company has been pursuing a dedicated artificial intelligence chip program for more than a year.
Reuters reported last year that Openai is working with Bradcom and TSMC to develop its first dedicated chip to provide its artificial intelligence systems. The company also uses AMD chips along with Nvidia chips to respond to increased demand in infrastructure.
It was also reported in February that OpenAI was running its plan to reduce Nvidia’s dependence on chip supply with the development of its first -generation silicon artificial intelligence. At the same time, sources told Reuters that Openai will finalize its first internal chip design in the next few months and plans to send it to TSMC.
Bradam has recently received more than $ 5 billion in artificial intelligence infrastructure order from a new customer whose name was not revealed. Bradcom’s CEO Hawk Tan said on Thursday that the company expects artificial intelligence -related revenue to increase significantly in fiscal year.
The CEO of Bradam said earlier this year that the four new potential customers involved in partnering with the company are working with Bradam to build their custom chips in addition to the current three major customers.
