Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced on Friday that Shengjia Zhao, a key researcher Openai and authors of ChatGPT, GPT-4 models, and the O1 reasoning system, as the new scientific director of the “Meta Laboratory Laborators”.
Zhao has previously contributed to the development of some of the most advanced artificial intelligence technologies, and is now set to lead the Meta research path to compete with Openai, Anthropic and Google Dep Madam. He has been involved in its formation since its establishment and has now been officially appointed as the scientific brain of the project.
Former Scale AI CEO Alexander Wang also heads the unit; However, he has no research background, the presence of Xao and other scientific elites has established the team’s balance.

In recent months, several high -level researchers from Openai, Dipmand, Apple, Anthropic and even the FAIR team have been transferred to the unit. According to American sources, Zuckerberg has sometimes been offered several tens of million dollars to attract these elites with a limited number of days and even invited some personally to his villa in Lake Taho.
One of the key goals of MSL is the development of O1 competing arguments and the implementation of the “new scalability paradigm” that Xao has offered. Meta is also launching a 4GB computational superconductor in Ohio, which is ready for operation by year 4.
Currently, two key figures are guiding meta artificial intelligence:
Ian Lecon, Director of Long -Term Research in Fair Laboratory
Shengjia Zhao, Scientific Director of Abravash Research in MSL
The combination of this advanced team reflects the serious meta’s determination to compete with other artificial intelligence giants.
