The Samsung Galaxy S25’s flagship handset received a recycling process -based design award from the Rechamed Materials Association (Rema).
Samsung Electronics said in a stateme that the Galaxy S25 flagship series, including the Galaxy S5 Ultra, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Plus, has won the 2025 Recycling Process Design Award by the Rechamed Materials Association (RMA); A achieveme that is an importa step towards the company’s commitme to sustainable developme and production of environmeally friendly products.
The prize, known as the top honor in the field of sustainable product design, has been awarded to Samsung by the Rema (leading eity in the field of recycling and environmeal innovations) to re -approve the company’s commitme to responsible developme and environmeal protection.

The award shows that with its innovations, Samsung has been able to take an effective step in increasing the use of recycled materials in its products and minimizing the use of natural resources in the production and supply cycle. In this regard, the Galaxy S25 has been iroduced as the first Samsung handset to use a recycled cobalt (one of the key elemes in battery -making). This cobalt is supplied through the new Samsung Rotary Supply Chain; The process where the materials are recovered from old Galaxy phones and unused batteries. This solution not only helps reuse valuable resources, but also significaly reduces the need for new cobalt extraction.
Daniel Araoo, Deputy Director and Director of Sustainability Office in the Samsung Mobile Experience Departme, emphasized the company’s commitme to sustainable developme:
Samsung is determined to consider stability in all stages of its product life cycle, from initial design to everyday use and ultimately recycling. The Galaxy S25 is a turning poi in our way to boost the rotational economy in our products and activities; Because it has been able to combine advanced innovation with environmeal responsibility. We are still trying to expand these actions and set a more stable future for future generations.
Robin Weiner, director of the Rema Association, also praised Samsung’s performance:
Samsung has shown a real pioneer and inspiring leader in the field, using design principles for recycling throughout the Galaxy S25 handset. The extensive use of recycled materials in this product is a testame to Samsung’s commitme to responsible innovation and environmeal protection.
Following Samsung’s efforts to recycle recycling in the electronics industry, the company has used eight differe types of recycling materials in manufacturing the Galaxy S25; Materials that include aluminum, steel, and rare elemes such as neodymium. For the first time, the aluminum -resista frame of this device is also manufactured using recycled materials, and now all the exterior of the Galaxy S25 coains at least one type of recycling material.

Also, in another way to reduce environmeal footpris, Samsung has completely packaged the handset from recycled paper and refused to use any disposable plastic.
Samsung has also taken another step towards sustainability by running your self-reapir program; A initiative that allows users to repair or replace some parts of the phone themselves. Designed to extend the useful life of the devices and reduce electronic waste, it is designed to improve Samsung’s commitme to enhance environmeal responsibility through consumers’ empowerme.
These measures are part of Samsung’s widespread environmeal commitmes aimed at reducing destructive environmeal effects and moving towards sustainable developme. Samsung has announced that by 2027 it iends to achieve 100 % of renewable energy in all universities of the product experience (DX). The company has also pledged to use at least one recycling material in all parts of its mobile product by 2030. In this regard, Samsung is investing in the developme of innovative and environmeally friendly materials; Without sacrificing the quality, design or durability of its products.
The “Recycling Process Design” award on May 24 was awarded to Samsung during a ceremony at the Rema Association’s annual conference held in San Diego, California, as one of the pioneers of sustainability and environmeal innovation.
