OpenAIthe popular chatbot manufacturer ChatGPT It has faced a new lawsuit alleging that it stole and misused iernet users’ data to train its artificial ielligence tools.
The plaiiffs in the class-action lawsuit, filed in California federal court, allege that OpenAI secretly collected large amous of personal data from Iernet users, CNN reported. In addition to the misuse of user data, the complai also emphasizes the amou of data used by OpenAI, which the plaiiffs claim was enormous.
Complais against ChatGPT developer
In addition to the ChatGPT builder, from Microsoft which is one of the main investors of OpenAI is also named as a defenda in this complai.
Timothy K. Giordano of Clarkson Law Firm says:
“By collecting the personal data of millions of people and abusing it to develop a runaway, uested technology, OpenAI puts everyone at risk that is incalculable and unacceptable under data protection standards.”
The complai also claims that OpenAI products “use stolen private information, including personally ideifiable information, of millions of Iernet users, including children of all ages, without prior conse or notice.”
The plaiiffs in the case are seeking an injunction to temporarily halt further commercial use of OpenAI’s products. They are also seeking financial compensation for people whose data was used to develop and train OpenAI tools.
Late last year, OpenAI publicly launched the ChatGPT artificial ielligence chatbot, and this tool quickly became very well received by cyberspace users due to its extraordinary ability to generate persuasive responses to user requests. ChatGPT’s success has also created a huge competition in the field of artificial ielligence, where companies large and small are trying to develop their own artificial ielligence tools or add them to their products.
Of course, this technology also brings concerns, including the disclosure of sensitive information, and for this reason, the US Congress recely announced restrictions on the use of ChatGPT.
