The Chinese announced the discovery of huge oil reserves under their feet. The discovery could lead to increased China’s oil production and reduced its dependence on oil imports.
In the latest science and knowledge news, the National Coineal Oil Company of China (CNOOC) announced on Monday that a significa oil reserves found in the eastern part of the South China Sea. Initial estimates show that the oil field accoued for about 110 million tonnes of crude oil.

The discovery of the Huizhou 19-6 offshore oil field, located in very deep layers of the Earth, preses a new perspective on Chinese oil resources. Despite the many challenges in the exploration of oil and gas in such a speech, China’s rece success in finding another large reservoir reflects its significa progress in the past two years.
According to Global Times, the oil field is 106 miles from the coast of Shenzhen, in Guangdong province in southern China. The average depth of water in this area is about 100 meters. Drilling in such deep layers is very difficult, and China’s Offshore Oil Company has acknowledged that it has had many difficulties.

The Huizhou 19-6 oil field is the first large-scale large-scale oil field of China to be discovered in very deep layers, according to Global Times. The discovery, as a major achieveme in China’s efforts to find attractive offshore resources, has produced 413 barrels of crude oil and 68,000 cubic meters of natural gas in experimes. These figures represe the enormous poteial of this depth.
One of the CNOOC represeatives said very deep layers make up about 60 perce of the world’s oil and gas reserves. Although drilling technology at these levels has made significa progress in rece decades, it has not yet reached the desired level.
During the period called “The Thirteeh Five Year Plan”, the Chinese developed a variety of equipme, including vertical drilling machines. However, the industry still faces major geological challenges in accessing raw materials in very deep layers.

During this period, China surpassed the United States in its ultra -deep wells and achieved great achievemes at a depth of 8,000 meters. These successes have played a key role in the developme of China’s depths of oil and gas exploration as well as strengthening its competitive position.
However, according to Xinhua, the new route for extracting oil and gas is still accompanied by serious obstacles such as high temperatures, high pressures and complex conditions.
On the other hand, the clast tanks have extremely complex geological systems and have low permeability. Clastic rocks have unique sedimeary characteristics that make it very difficult to discover oil fields.
