Professor Geoffrey Hion, who is considered the godfather of artificial ielligence, has joined Elon Musk’s supporters in opposing the commercialization of OpenAI.
Ever since OpenAI announced its plans to change its structure from non-profit to for-profit, various individuals and organizations have opposed the company’s plans. At the head of these oppones was Elon Musk. However, OpenAI later revealed by publishing emails that Musk was one of the supporters of the company’s for-profit. Conflicts in this field are still ongoing.
The godfather of artificial ielligence is also against the commercialization of OpenAI

The latest person to join the ranks of oppones of the commercialization of OpenAI is Professor Geoffrey Hion, the godfather of artificial ielligence. On Monday, Encode Group, a non-profit youth advocacy organization, announced in a stateme its support for Elon Musk’s lawsuit to preve OpenAI from being commercialized.
The godfather of artificial ielligence said in a stateme published by Encode:
“OpenAI was founded explicitly as a non-profit organization with a focus on safety, and made promises related to safety in its charter. This company has used its non-profit status to receive benefits such as taxes and other benefits. “Allowing (OpenAI) to undermine all of this sends a bad signal to the rest of the ecosystem.”
OpenAI currely has many for-profit divisions managed by a non-profit board of directors. This has caused this company to face limitations in its missions. Despite all the opposition, OpenAI appears to be serious about converting from non-profit to for-profit and has even announced its plans to achieve this goal.
Professor Geoffrey Hion recely poied out the uncorolled developme of artificial ielligence and said that there is a 10-20% probability that artificial ielligence will destroy human ielligence in 30 years. He had previously warned that artificial ielligence could destroy many jobs.
